I share my life with my wonderful wife Jocelyne, who is the reason why I am now very happy.
My son Camillo, after graduating in Maths and Philosophy at Magdalen College Oxford, switched to Medicine (!!) and after graduating at King's College London, finishing his F2 stint and after a course in Tropical Medicine in Africa and a Master's in Public Health at the University of Sydney (on a Northcote fellowship), is currently working at McKinsey's Global Institute in Sydney. My stepchildren, Alexina and Robin, have also flown the nest, to Munich and South Queensferry respectively. Our lovely dogs Willow and Lupo seem quite happy roaming the small forest surrounding our house in Largoward.
In spite of my old age, I still enjoy playing tennis. After years at the St Andrews Lawn Tennis Club, I now play at the Duffus Tennis Club in Cupar.
I have a totally deaf ear for pop music (and generally, as it happens), but I enjoy listening to proper music. My Desert Island discs are (in no particular order):
Pergolesi: Stabat Mater (Maazel/Lear/Ludwig - accept no substitutes)
Mozart: Don Giovanni
Mozart: Requiem (von Karajan, obvs)
Greig: Holberg Suite (original for piano only)
Bach: Suites for Unaccompanied Cello (Casals or Rostropovich)
Wagner: Tristan and Isolde
Schoenberg: Verklarte Nacht
Santana: Samba pa ti
Finally, I am an unwavering supporter of Enlightenment values.
